The project responds to CBD COP decision X/10 on National Reporting, the Notification for 5th National Report and revision of NBSAPs and the AICHI Biodiversity Targets which wille ensure that countries are in complicity with the 2011-2020 Strategic Plan for Biodiversity and Aichi Targets for biodiversity as agreed by countries in COP 10

Moderate Risk

Lack of capacity: Experience from the Fourth National Report Umbrella Projects (both UNDP’s and UNEP’s) showed that many countries do not have adequate capacity for the preparation of the reports to the CBD. To mitigate this risk, the is undertaking a training program using regional workshops which have already commenced as early as March 2011. In addition, UNEP will provide one-on-one training and question and answer facility to the countries during implementation of the project. UNEP will also provide comments on the quality of the reports and NBSAPs once the drafts are ready. Information on operational procedures and substantive guidance prepared for the project will be in the CBD website.
